Safeway opens at The Market at Mountain House
1 min read
Until now a full grocery run meant driving to Tracy. A supermarket inside town limits changes weekly routines for most households and gives the surrounding retail units the foot traffic they were built to depend on.
Safeway opened its Mountain House store at The Market at Mountain House, the retail centre on the corner of Mountain House Parkway and Byron Road.
For a community that has spent most of its existence driving to Tracy for a full grocery run, an in-town supermarket is a genuine change to the weekly routine.
What it means for the rest of the centre
The Market pairs the supermarket with additional retail space occupied by restaurants, a dental practice, a café, a beauty bar and a martial arts studio. Those tenants were leased on the assumption of grocery-anchor foot traffic, and this is the point at which that assumption gets tested.
